All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CORDIE NORFLEET JOHNSON Cordy [sic; Cordie] Norfleet Johnson, 52, well-known resident of Portsmouth and former resident of Franklin died Sunday morning after an illness of many months. He was the son of the late Jefferson Davis and Olivia Daughtrey Johnson of Isle of Wight County, near Franklin, and husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Powell Johnson, who survives him. Mr. Johnson for many years was employed by G.H. Steinhardt and Company of Franklin, and was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church until he moved to Portsmouth where he joined the Parkview Baptist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fitzhugh Holland of Portsmouth and Mrs. R.A. Whitley of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Constance Lee Holland, Robert Avery Whitley, Jr.; two brothers, Robert Allen and Lawrence Johnson, both of Franklin. Funeral services were held at the home of his brother, Robert Allan Johnson, near Franklin, Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock by the Rev. J.T. Garland Moore of Cradock, a former pastor, assisted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and the Rev. John P. Batkins of Franklin. Burial was in Beaver Dam Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl Steinhardt, Richard Rawls, W.J. Bradshaw, Leonidas Cutchin, Charlie Johnson, Reuben Bittle, William H. Cutchin and Dr. A.P. Cutchin.
