Johnson, 79, a former resident of Southampton County, died Tuesday, January 10, at 1 p.m. at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. Frank Robertson, 5336 Edgewater Drive, Norfolk. A daughter of the late William and Mrs. Sallie Flowers Johnson, she was a native of Scotland County*, N.C., and had been a resident of Norfolk for nine years. In addition to her sister, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Mrs. James A. Johnson of Franklin; five nieces, Mrs. J. Floyd Briggs, Jr., of Franklin; Mrs. W.A. Wright, Jr., of Port Washington Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. J.M. Kilgore of Philadelphia; Mrs. S.S. Trautham of Birmingham, Ala.; and Mrs. Ethel J. Smith of Thomasville, Ga., and two nephews, James A. Johnson, Jr., of Richmond and W.A. Johnson of Savannah, Ga. Funeral services will be conducted in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home Friday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, Rev. R.D. Stephenson, former pastor, and Rev. Harold A. Malmborg, pastor of the Freemason Street Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be William A. Robertson of Norfolk, Dr. Burton J. Ray, R.J. Tucker, George Watkins , J.F. Briggs, Herbert Cobb, C.C. Vaughan, 3rd, and G.E. Pillow. *Scotland Co., NC, was formed from Richmond Co. in 1899.
