J.K. Holman of Newsoms officiating. Newsoms High School classmates of the deceased acted as pallbearers, the floral offerings being varied and beautiful. Earl Ritter Johnson, known to his friends as "Luke," was fifteen years old and the son of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Johnson of the Handsom community. He was taken suddenly ill while in a classroom at the Newsoms school last Thursday, and died at his home within a day from the time of his first attack. Earl was of a quiet and lovable disposition and his death at such an early age was particularly distressing to his parents and friends in the community. He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Burdenelle and J.C. Johnson, Jr., and two sisters, Ruby and Shirley Johnson and by a number of relatives in the community. The mother of the deceased and a brother, J.C. Jr., and sister, Ruby, are still in quarantine at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, where their condition is serious.
