GERTRUDE RICKS TAYLOR JOHNSON

   BOYKINS - Mrs. Gertrude Ricks Johnson, 66, died in a Roanoke Rapids 
hospital Sunday at 12:45 a.m. after a long illness.

   Wife of Charlie L. Johnson and a daughter of Willie and Mattie Barnes 
Ricks, she was a native of Severn, N.C. and had lived here 32 years.

   Besides her husband she was survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Taylor 
Deale of Boykins; two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Pope and Mrs. Lucy Raynor of 
Durham, N.C.; six brothers, Richard Ricks of Boykins and Roy Ricks, Clyde 
Ricks, Collin Ricks, Myrtis Ricks and Charlie Ricks of Durham, and two 
grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at the Boykins Baptist Church, 
of which she was a member, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. B.B. Ussery, pastor.  Burial 
will take place in Beechwood Cemetery.
