All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ GLEAMOUS JOSEPH JOHNSON FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Gleamous Joseph Johnson is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 24 at 11 a.m. in the Franklin Baptist Church by Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The body will be taken from W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home to the church at 10 a.m. Thursday. Pallbearers will be W.R. Butler, Reuben Whitley, Herbert Vick, C.H. Dougherty, Cecil Porter, Harry Jones, Carl Bowen and Jesse McClenny. Johnson, 73, a retired grocery operator, died in his home Monday after a long illness. A native of Middlesex, N.C. he was the husband of Mrs. Eula Lee Faison Johnson and a son of John W. and Mrs. Peninia Eure Johnson. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church, its Bruner Men’s Bible Class, and Franklin Masonic Lodge 151. He was an Army veteran of World War I and a past commander of Southampton Barracks 1162. Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. D.B. Gassler Jr. of Richmond and two grandchildren.
