HENRY WALTER JOHNSON

  SUFFOLK - April 13 - Henry W. Johnson, 76, well-known resident of 
Southampton County, died this morning at his home near Black Creek. 
Surviving him are a son, Henry Johnson of Norfolk, a daughter, Mrs. 
Nettie Tilford of Smithfield, and a number of nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be conducted at Black Creek Baptist Church, 
Tuesday at 3 p.m., by the Rev. R.E. Vellines, and burial will be in 
the family cemetery. 

  Active pallbearers will be Reuben Barrett, Charles and Edward Hatfield, 
R.W. and Sam Drewry, Fenton Bryant, Joe Spivey, and Ken Wade.

Find a Grave Memorial #269752124 gives buried Black Creek Baptist Church 
   Cemetery, citing his D.Cert. 

D.Cert. 11716 (Jerusalem #5) gives buried Black Creek by W.J.M. Holland & 
   Sons, but does not specify Black Creek Baptist Church. 

It seems equally likely he was buried at home.

He appears in the 1900 Census - Jerusalem Dist., Southampton Co. - as married 
   11 years, but his wife is not enumerated with him. 

He 2m. widow Annie Eliza "Liza" (HOWELL CARR) HARGRAVE circa 1904. 

His mother Mary (CHARLES; Mrs. Joseph) JOHNSON, d. 10 Aug 1884 of typhoid 
   fever, age 52.  (Southampton Co. D.Reg. Dist. 1 #76) 

His father 2m. Polly EDWARDS 30 Dec 1884.  (Southampton Co. M.Reg. #145)
