Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Harry Bunch of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Pallbearers were W.R. Bishop, E.E. Drake, Woodrow Wilson, Delbert Whitehead, W.E. Beale, Wallace Mason, R.D. Smith and J.L. Porter Jr. Johnson, 78 died Sunday in Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Blackstone. He was the husband of Mrs. Pearl Ritter Johnson and son of Henry L. and Mrs. Mary Hedgepeth Johnson. A native of Southampton County, he was a member of Mt. Horeb Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer. Besides his widow, surviving are two sons, J.C. Johnson Jr. of Handsom and Burtenelle Johnson of Emporia; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Wiggins of Richmond and Mrs. Shirley Mason of Franklin; a brother, R.E. Johnson of Courtland; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Gilliam and Mrs. Manie Baker of Handsom and Mrs. Lillian Spencer of Hamlet, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.
