James T. Campbell. Burial was in the Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins. Pallbearers were Benjamin Porter, W.R. Emmons, Victor B. Grizzard, Roy Vann, Robert B. Poland and William Taylor. Johnson died Tuesday night at Southampton Memorial Hospital. A native of Southampton County, Mr. Johnson was the husband of the late Mrs. Pearl Hill Johnson, and a son of John Wesley and Mrs. Mary Jane Smith Johnson. He was a retired retail sales clerk, and was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church. Surviving is one brother, Joseph Benjamin Johnson Sr. of Boykins; five nephews, Bernard Edward Johnson of Lynchburg, John Johnson of Boykins, J.B. Johnson, Jr. of Sedley, John Matthews of Greensboro, N.C., and Clessie Matthews of Murfreesboro, N.C.
