JAMES WILLIAM JOHNSON 

Portsmouth Deaths 

  James William Johnson, uncle of Mrs. R.L. Jones, 1500 Charleston Avenue, 
Portsmouth, died Thursday morning at his home near Sedley, after an illness 
of several months. 

  He was the son of the late Richard Eley and Mrs. Rosa L. Johnson, of 
Southampton County and was a retired farmer. 

  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Holland Funeral Home, 
Sedley.  Burial will be in the family plot near Sedley.

interred in the family cemetery*, near Sedley, 26 near Sedley,

D.Cert. 2293 (Sedley R.F.D. #2) gives buried family plot near Sedley. 

Site of the family cemetery not known (Apr 2026) to the SCHS Cemetery Project. 

He appears in the 1940 Census - Berlin & Ivor Dist., Farm #110 - on Rt. 632, 
   which may be identical with Sycamore Ave., Sedley. 

He appears in the 1920 Census - Berlin & Ivor Dist. - at a crossroad, 
   on Farm #53, with his parents on adjacent Farm #54. 

His father's D.Cert. 35-008372 gives buried 31 Mar 1935 at the Home Place; 
   scan posted with Find a Grave Memorial #276375720, which gives 
   Burial Details Unknown. 

His mother's D.Cert. 44-025468 gives buried 22 Nov 1944 near Sedley; 
   scan posted with Find a Grave Memorial #276375956, which gives 
   Burial Details Unknown.
