JOHN THOMAS JOHNSON

   Mr. John T. Johnson died at his home near Sedley, Thursday, March 11th, 
at 10:40 p.m., after a brief illness of pneumonia following influenza, in 
his 68th year.

   Mr. Johnson was a quiet, upright and highly respected citizen in this 
community, a member and deacon of Courtland Baptist Church for many years 
and a devoted husband and father.

   He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, who was Miss Mary Branche; 
eight children, H.L. Johnson, Arcadia, Fla., Mrs. R.L. Hancock, Jr., 
Suffolk, Mrs. B.B. Riddick, Newport News, Mrs. G.E. Gardner, Franklin, 
Misses Susie and Shirley Johnson, Thomas and William Johnson of Sedley; 
two brothers, W.H. Johnson and R. Johnson of Sedley and one sister Mrs. 
S.J. Branch of Boykins.

   The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. L.F. Paulette, 
at his late home at one o’clock p.m. Saturday, and interment was made in 
Rosemont Cemetery.  The active pallbearers were L.S. Branch, B.B. Riddick, 
J.L. Johnson, R. Johnson, R.L. Hancock, Jr., G.E. Gardner, W.H. Johnson 
and J. Johnson.
