Johnson Mrs. Nannie Carter Johnson, 85, died Saturday, November 30, at the home of her grandson, Russell Bryant, near Newsoms after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late J. W. and Mrs. Rhoda* Carter and the wife of the late Samuel Hugh Johnson, Sr. She was a native of North Carolina but had resided in Southampton County most of her life. She was a member of the Boykins Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, J. H. Story, S. H. Story and Samuel H. Johnson, Jr., all of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; six daughters, Mrs. Bennie C. Gray, Sr., of Franklin, Mrs. J. L. Pope of Branchville; Mrs. Dellie R. Vick of Courtland, Mrs. Donald C. Manry of Capron and Mrs. James A. Ferguson and Mrs. Harvey J. Porter, both of Newsoms; 38 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister- in-law, Mrs. Linda Carter of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Boykins Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. Ben B. Ussery, Rev. L. L. Smith, pastor of the Newsoms Baptist Church and Rev. David Willis, pastor of the Capron Methodist Church. Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. Active pallbearers were James A. Ferguson, Jr., Bennie C. Gray, Jr., Eppa J. Gray, Harvey J. Porter, Jr., Kenneth G. Porter and Bobby C. Vick, all grandsons of Mrs. Johnson. Nannie Belle (CARTER; Mrs. Samuel H.
