Johnson of the Franklin community, died Tuesday night, March 3, after a long illness. Mrs. Johnson was a native of Nansemond County, the daughter of the late Allen Daughtrey and Mrs. Elizabeth Norfleet Daughtrey. She was 67 years of age, a consistent member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and an estimable Christian woman of many exemplary traits of character. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Cordie N., Robert A. and Lawrence Johnson of Franklin; two sisters, Mrs. Eva L. Daughtrey of Beaver Dam and Miss Lydia Daughter of Franklin; three brothers, W.A. Daughtrey of Suffolk, J.O.H. and Braxton R. Daughtrey of Franklin; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral rites were conducted from the home yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by her Pastor, the Rev. J.T. Garland Moore of Beaver Dam, assisted by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin. Burial was made in Beaver Dam Cemetery, the pallbearers being: Adolph Cutchin, Leonidas Cutchin, Algy Daughtrey, Bruce Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Elvin Whitley, Herman Howell and G.E. Pillow.
