He was he husband of Mrs. Dorothy Flowers Johnson and the son of the late Samuel Pettway and Blanche Westbrook Johnson; other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Johnson Beale of Courtland, Va., and Mrs. Susan Johnson Gillette of Capron, Va.; one son, Owen Westbrook Johnson, Jr. of Blacksburg, Va.; three sisters, Miss Elizabeth Carolyn Johnson and Nellie McLemore Johnson of Drewryville, Va. and Mrs. Brooks Johnson Parker of Franklin, Va.; one brother, Samuel Pettway Johnson, Jr. of Petersburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Allison Brooks Beale and William Chappell Gillette. Mr. Johnson was a farmer and rural letter carrier of the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Drewryville where he was a trustee. He was a former U.S. Army Captain. He was a member of the Drewryville Ruritan Club and a charter member of the Drewryville Fire Department. He was a former member of the Southampton Co. School Board, and a former member of the Board of Directors of Southampton Memorial Hospital. He was also a member of the Southampton High School Athletic Association. A funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M. in Drewryville Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Capron Rescue Squad.
