PEARL RITTER JOHNSON

   Handsom - A funeral service for Mrs. Pearl Ritter Johnson, 86, held 
Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Revs. A.W. Green 
and J. Waverly Horne.  Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.

   She died Monday in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.

   She was the widow of James C. Johnson and a native of Southampton County. 
She was a member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church.

   Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Mason of Franklin and Mrs. 
Ruby J. Wiggins of Richmond; two sons, James C. Johnson, Jr. of Handsom and 
Burtrelle Johnson of Emporia; four sisters, Mrs. Mattie Beaton of Gloucester 
Point, Mrs. Elma Frenkel of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Rushe Johnson of 
Handsom and Inez Tuttle of Richmond; a brother, Howard L. Ritter of Windsor; 
nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
