W. Ray Johnson

  NEWSOMS - W. Ray Johnson, age 77, a resident of Newsoms, died Wednesday, 
Feb. 8, 1995 at Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.  He was a native of 
North Carolina, a retired employee of Franklin Concrete Company, and a member 
of Newsoms Baptist Church. 

  He is survived by his wife, Virginia Blanche Russell Johnson; four 
daughters, Ann E. Porter of Newsoms, Betty E. Ricks of Boykins, Kaye E. 
Burgess of Boyklns, and Rebecca E. Hutson of Callo; a son, Fletcher H. Edwards 
of Suffolk; three sisters, Linda J. Cooke of Norfolk; ten grandchildren, seven 
great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. 

  Funeral services were held at Purviance Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel on 
Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.  Burial was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins. 
Memorial donations may be made to the Boykins Fire & Rescue Squad.
