All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RUTH DIXON BROWN JOHNSON Mrs. Ruth Brown Johnson, 56, a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, died Saturday morning, November 3, in Raiford Memorial Hospital, where she was taken for treatment the Saturday morning preceding. Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of the late Richard and Martha Howell Brown of Franklin, and wife of Joe P. Johnson, also of Franklin. She was a member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Besides her husband she is survived by one son. H. Shepherd Johnson, USN, stationed at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth; one daughter, Mrs. Brownie Collier of Franklin; a sister Mrs. Mary Brown Beaton of Franklin; and a nephew, John A. Beaton, Jr. USN, Jacksonville, Fla. Funeral services were conducted at the residence, 317 Grove Street, on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, with Rev. W.A. Grissom, pastor of the deceased, officiating. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the pallbearers being Lawless Cobb, Jack Farmer, Lewis Gillette, D.A.
