All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RICHARD WILBUR JOHNSON Richard Wilbur Johnson, aged 58, farmer of the Newsoms community, died at his home Monday afternoon, climaxing an illness of over four years. He was the husband of Mrs. Berta Rawls Johnson and son of the late John J. and Nettie Carter Johnson of North Carolina. He was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, N.C. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Tommie Drake and Mrs. Jesse Vick of Newsoms and Mrs. Linwood Simms of Franklin; one sons, Richard W. Johnson, Jr. of Newsoms; two brothers, John Edward Johnson of Newsoms and Henry Lee Johnson of Winton, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Cullins and Mrs. Willie Moore of Roanoke Rapids and Mrs. Eula Barham of Richmond. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence at 3 o’clock by the Rev. C.P. Cleveland of Newsoms, with interment in the family cemetery near Como. Pallbearers were Thomas, Ray, Cecil and William Johnson, Aubrey Story, William and John Vick and Amos Porter.
