Joyner, died Friday, September 14, at the home of her son, J.H. Joyner, near here, aged 82* years. She was before marriage, Miss Jackson of Richmond, but had lived all of her married life in Southampton County. Surviving are five sons, S.W. and T.J. Joyner of Capron, P.L. and W.E. Joyner of Willoughby Beach, and J.H. Joyner of Sebrell community; three daughters, Mrs. J.D. Nicholson and Mrs. Ben Fuller of Hopewell, and Mrs. J.M. Nicholson of Capron, besides a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted at the grave in Sebrell cemetery Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock with the Rev. C.H. Fielding, pastor of Applewhite Church, officiating. "Rock of Ages," "Nearer My God to Thee," and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" were sung during the services. There were many pretty floral designs. The pallbearers were: J.M. and A.B. Nicholson, Jesse Vick, E.W. Crichton and W.B. Simmons. "Annie" Anna Ophelia (JACKSON; Mrs. Richard Henry) JOYNER, of Southampton Co., b. D.Cert. 21869 (Capron Dist. ["16" struck]) gives daughter of Richard Henry & Sarah Jane (GODSEY) JACKSON. Her husband was a Confederate veteran, having served as second sergeant in Co. A, 18th Battalion VA Heavy Artillery. Annie applied for a pension 28 Feb 1914. Her father, son of Jeremiah & Nancy JACKSON, d. 14 Jun 1880 in Manchester, age 71, of Dropsy. (Chesterfield Co. D.Reg. Dist. 1 #90) He 2m. ca. 1858 Minnie A. McGEE. Their daughter Mattie Lee JACKSON (1859 - 1945) m. widower William Andrew EASTMAN (1834 - 1887), also a Confederate veteran, having served as a private in Epps' Co., Chesterfield Light Artillery. He is buried with his first wife in Branch's Baptist Church Cemetery, Richmond. Mattie applied for a pension 25 Apr 1929. Mattie is buried in Maury Cemetery, Richmond.
