Joyner, died at her home in Burdette January 20 in her 71st year following an illness of about two weeks. Mrs. Joyner was the daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Mrs. Mary Helen Charles of this county, and on February 22, 1885* was married to J.B. Joyner. In early childhood she joined the church and was a charter member of Burdette Baptist Church where she was active and faithful until the time of her death. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. L.M. Raiford and Mrs. W.A. Talley of Burdette, one sister, Mrs. Lula Rose of Burdette; two brothers, E.L. Charles of Portsmouth, J.A. Charles of Norfolk and 14 grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted from Burdette Baptist Church by her Pastor, Rev. W.B. Denson, assisted by Rev. R.P. Welch of Black Creek. The large number of sorrowing friends who attended the burial and the beautiful floral offerings attested to the love and esteem in which she was held. Hymns sung included her favorites, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "Abide with Me" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus." Mrs. L.E. Beale sang, "Will My Dreams Come True?" The body bearers were: L.M. Raiford, W.A. Talley, O.L. Joyner, J.T. Pond, J.S. Drewry, E.H. Beaton, J.H. Spivey and A.M. Bradshaw. Ada Ann (CHARLES; Mrs. Joseph B.)
