JOYNER FORMER COUNTY MAN DIES IN AUTO WRECK Clinton T. Joyner, a native of Southampton County, and a brother of Mrs. Rufus L. Johnson and Miss Blanche Joyner of Sedley, was instantly killed Wednesday afternoon about 2:30 when his car left the road a little east of Farmville. Mr. Joyner had been to Mountain Lake and was returning to his home in Portsmouth when the accident occurred. His machine was not in collision with any other and there was no car near him when the wreck happened, it being assumed that he must have lost consciousness for some reason, the car having followed an erratic path down the highway before stopping that suggested it was completely out of control. Mr. Joyner was 57 years old and had been auditor for the Navy Yard cooperative restaurant for many years. He had lived in Portsmouth for 30 years, where he was widely known and liked. He was an active member of the Court Street Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the board of deacons. The body was brought to the W.J.M. Holland & Sons funeral home here following the accident. Funeral services will be held at Grace Memorial Church, Sedley, his home community, this (Friday) afternoon at 3 o’clock, Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin to be assisted by the pastor, Rev. A.W. Roten. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** RITES FOR CLINTON T. JOYNER Funeral services for Clinton T.
