Mr. Joyner, a native of Southampton County, was the widower of Betty Cones Joyner. He had retired from a job with the state highway department. He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by a sister, Helen J. Poteat of Portsmouth. The graveside service was conducted Wednesday in Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Wayne D. Underwood.
