JOYNER FRANKLIN - Funeral services for Ernest W. Joyner, 70, were held Sunday in Franklin Baptist Church by the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins. Burial was in the Windsor cemetery with Wright Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: William O’Brien, Herman Edwards, Ryland Powers, A.L. Drew, Otis Smith, and Nurney Whitley. Joyner died Thursday in a Richmond hospital. He was a native of Southampton County and the husband of Naomi Spencer Joyner. He was a retired painting contractor and a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Other survivors include two daughters, Rosaline Patterson and Lynne Kennedy of Richmond; four sisters, Addie Bristow and Hattie Dailey of Suffolk, Mae Bonavita of Norfolk, and Ione Gayle of Smithfield; three brothers, Thomas J. Joyner of Hampton, and Shady L. Joyner and Alonza E. Joyner of Franklin; and three granddaughters.
