He was the husband of Mrs. Eleanor Fisher, and the son of Mrs. Mary Turner Joyner. He was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church; Army Veteran of WWII; and a merchant. Surviving besides his wife and mother are two daughters, Mrs. Claire Heifert of Richmond and Mrs. Grace Drake of Newsomes; two sons, James H. Joyner III of Roanoke and Mike Joyner of Courtland, one brother William Thomas Joyner of Courtland; one grandchild. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 A.M. at the graveside in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, by the Rev. Harry L. Kidd Jr. Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
