Mr. Joyner, a native of Southampton County, was a member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church and Ivor Hunt Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Simons Joyner; two daughters, Ruth J. Burch of Ivor and Sue J. Eades of Richmond; four sons, Tommy Joyner and Larry Joyner, both of Franklin, and Eugene Joyner and Randall Joyner, both of Suffolk; a stepmother, Della B. Joyner of Ivor; two sisters, Virgie J. Duke of Walters and Martha J. Cutchins of Franklin and eight grandchildren. The graveside service was conducted Monday in Tucker Swamp Church Cemetery, Ivor, by the Rev. J. Waverly Horne. Memorial donations may be made to Ivor Rescue Squad or Ivor Volunteer Fire Dept. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, handled arrangements.
