He was the husband of Mrs. Grace Turner Joyner, and the son of the late Henry and Indiana Butler Joyner, of Southampton County. A member of the Courtland Methodist Church, and the Woodman of the World Lodge, of Courtland. He was in the Civil Service for over forty years serving the community in which he lived. Surviving him besides his wife are: two sons; James H. Joyner, Jr. and W.T. Joyner, both of Courtland. Two daughters; Mrs. Russell P. Williams, of Colonial Beach, and Miss Mary Alice Joyner, of Salem. Ten grandchildren, two brothers; Alex D. Joyner, of Yonkers, N.Y., and M.B. Joyner, of Dendron, and one sister; Mrs. E.M. Rollings, of Sedley. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held from the Holland Funeral chapel Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., by the Rev. Harold M. Fuss, pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers will be Allen J. Dickey, John H. Joyner, J.C. Kitchen, Odell Joyner, M.R. Joyner, Jr., and A.F.
