Jarratt, 68, a retired farmer of Drewryville and husband of Mrs. Virgie H. Jarratt, died early Wednesday morning, January 21, in a Richmond hospital after several years of ill health. The deceased was a native of Sussex County, the son of the late William and Mattie Hammond Jarratt. He was a member of the Adams Grove Baptist Church and of its Men's Bible class. Besides his wife he is survived by five sons, Herbert Jarratt of Petersburg and Waverly R., John H., William and Leonard Jarratt, Jr., all of Drewryville; six daughters, Mrs. A.M. Whitby of Capron, Miss Bessie Jarratt of Emporia, Mrs. Percy Joyner of Adams Grove, and Mrs. Doyle Shealy, Mrs. Lewis Wajciechowski and Mrs. William Carter of Richmond; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Jesse Jarratt of Capron, Jim Jarratt of Emporia, and Opie and George Jarratt of Sussex C.H. Final rites for Mr. Jarratt will be conducted at the grave in the Drewryville Cemetery this (Friday) afternoon at 2 o'clock by Revs. H.B. Jennings and J.T. Cassell.
