JARRATT Mrs. Mary Estelle Wray Jarratt, 41, wife of Herman L. Jarratt of Capron, died Wednesday, February 13, in a Richmond hospital following an illness of many months. Mrs. Jarratt was a native of Dinwiddie County but had resided in the Capron community for a number of years. She was the daughter of the late Roger Wray and Martha Brooks Wray of Dinwiddie County. Besides her husband she is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Esther Jarratt Gurganus, and one son, Herman L. Jarratt, Jr., both of Capron; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Wray Jarratt of Capron and Mrs. Nannie Wray Mayes of Petersburg; and two brothers, Goldie Wray of Colonial Heights and Richard Wray of Petersburg. The funeral cortege left the Purviance Funeral Home at Boykins at 1 p.m. Friday for rites at 2 p.m. at the Capron Baptist Church, of which Mrs. Jarratt was a member. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. H.B. Jennings, assisted by Rev. J.T. Cassell of the Capron Methodist Church. Two hymns, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and " Sunrise" were rendered by the choir. Interment was in the Capron cemetery, the active pallbearers being Roy Jarratt, William Jarratt, James Jarratt, and O.T. Jarrett, all of Capron, Joe Jarratt of Sussex C.H. and Bennie Gordon of Gray, Sussex County. Honorary pallbearers were friends of the family. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
