JARRATT Mrs. Virgie Harris Jarratt, well-known resident of Drewryville, died Sunday afternoon, July 29, in a Richmond hospital after an illness of many months. She was the widow of W.L. Jarratt, Sr., and the daughter of the late Pony and Sallie Holloway Harris of Brunswick County. She was a member of Adams Grove Baptist Church. Surviving her are four sons, Waverly R., John H. and Leonard, Jr. all of Drewryville, and William N. Jarratt of Richmond; four daughters, Mrs. Percy Joyner of Adams Grove and Mrs. Doyle Shealy, Mrs. Lewis Wajciewchowski and Mrs. William Carter, all of Richmond; 15 grandchildren and one great- grandchild; one brother, Ralph Harris of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Watson Witt of Roanoke, Mrs. Rosa Livesay of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. and Mrs. Belle Childs of Chester, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the graveside in Drewryville Cemetery by Rev. William W. Stennett, pastor of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. David Willis, pastor of the Capron and Drewryville Methodist churches. Active pallbearers were Arthur, Walter, James and Ben Gaskins, Jack Livesay and Jake Rentz.
