All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ RUTH NORFLEET JORDAN PORTSMOUTH - Mrs. Ruth Norfleet Jordan, 59, died Wednesday night in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, after a long illness. She was the wife of Nolan L. Jordan and a daughter of the late Jesse and Mrs. Minnie Britt Norfleet of Franklin. Mrs. Jordan was a native of Franklin and had lived in Churchland for the last 10 years. She was a member of the Franklin High Street Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, eight sons, Jesse W. Jordan of Detroit, Mich, Merrit H. Jordan of Franklin, William H. Jordan and John L. Jordan, also of Churchland, James R. Jordan of Tazewell, Marvin L. Jordan, Arnold, Md., Garland C. Jordan of Newberry, N.Y., and Donald R. Jordan of Smithfield, three daughters, Mrs. W.E. Worrell of Franklin, Mrs. Roy Turner of Carrsville and Miss Shirley Ann Jordan of Churchland; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Caroon of Franklin and Mrs. Margie Summers of Norfolk, and eight grandchildren. A funeral service was conducted at W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home Saturday at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Edwin C. Thornton, Jr., pastor of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Holland, Robert Holland, Charlie Turner, Tucker Poland, Roy Turner, William Worrell, Sam Powell and J.P. Coates.
