He was one of the promising young farmers of the county and only son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cross Jernigan. He is survived by his parents, his widow, who was Miss Cora Mae Hayes, and one daughter, little Miss Mildred Eugenia Jernigan. Funeral services will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock with the Rev. R.D. Stephenson officiating, assisted by the Rev. W.H. Corbitt, of Holland. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. ****************************************************************************** CLARENCE EDWIN JERNIGAN Clarence Edwin Jernigan, well-known young farmer of the Franklin community, died suddenly Wednesday night at his home in Isle of Wight County, living only an hour after becoming ill. He was in his 31st year, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Daughtrey Jernigan, and one child, Mildred, and by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Jernigan, all of this community. Mr. Jernigan was a consistent member of the Franklin Baptist Church and of the Bruner Bible Class of its Sunday school. He was a quiet, unassuming young man of exemplary character, and his people have the general sympathy of many friends and neighbors in their bereavement. Funeral rites will be conducted from the home this (Friday) afternoon at 3:30 o’clock by his Pastor, Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by Rev. W.H. Corbitt of the South Quay and Holland Baptist churches. Burial will be made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
