All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ROGER BURL JOURNIGAN Roger Burl* Journigan, 61, a farmer of the Courtland community, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning, August 2. He had suffered a heart attack a few days before. Mr. Journigan was a native of North Carolina, moving to Virginia as a young man. He was the son of the late Henry and Julia Ann Journigan, and was a member of the Holy Neck Congregational Christian Church. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Hettie Tomlin Journigan, and a son, Lloyd Carroll Journigan, both of Courtland; two grandchildren; a brother, Henry J. Journigan of Franklin; and a sister, Mrs. Ted Tomlin of Holland. Final rites were conducted at the grave in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland, on Monday morning at 11 o'clock by Revs. L.M. Kanipe, pastor of the Courtland Baptist Church, and Otis L. Gilliam, pastor of the Courtland Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Ed Bass, D.B. Brooks, L.A. Clements, J.E. Fox, Andrew Jenkins, David Kitchen, Joe Magette and Edwin Priggen.
