CARRIE BRYANT KITCHEN

   FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Mrs. Carrie Bryant Kitchen was conducted 
Monday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Herman 
Smith, a former pastor of Courtland Baptist church.  Burial was in Riverside 
Cemetery, Courtland.

   Pallbearers were Hugh Taylor Jr., Larry Kitchen, Vance Kitchen, Donald 
Jones, Robert A. Bryant, David Kitchen, Clayborne Babb and Vaughan Beale.

   Mrs. Kitchen, 82, died Saturday afternoon in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

   A native of Southampton County, she was a daughter of Ashton A. and Mrs. 
Zueline Williams Bryant and the widow of Luther U. Kitchen.

   She was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

   She was survived by four sons, James U. Kitchen of Courtland, Alfred B. 
Kitchen and R. Reginald Kitchen of Franklin, and John I. Kitchen of Norfolk; 
two daughters, Mrs. L.P. Jones of Emporia and Mrs. R.S. Taylor of Franklin; 
two brothers, W.A. Bryant of Courtland and Charles S. Bryant of Gastonia, 
N.C., 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
