All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ELIZABETH KITCHEN Miss Bettie Kitchen, an aged and highly esteemed lady of this county, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. J.B. Joyner, Burdette, Va., October 13, 1922, being in her 84th year. She was born near Sedley where she lived until the death of her sister, Delilah Kitchen, June 20, 1922, when she moved to be with her niece, Mrs. Joyner until her death. At an early age she joined Trinity M.E. Church and was a loyal faithful and consistent member of this church during her long life. The funeral services were conducted from Mrs. Joyner's residence by Rev. G.R. Pankey and the body laid to rest in Black Creek cemetery. The following acted as pallbearers: J.T. Rose, J.B. Joyner, L.M. Raiford, W.A. Talley, J.T. Pond and Jacob Pond. She is survived by one brother, Wesley M. Kitchen of Magnolia, Va.; two nephews, E.L. and Joseph Charles of Norfolk; two nieces, Mrs. J.B. Joyner of Burdette, and Mrs. John T. Rose of the Franklin community, besides great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
