All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY LOUISA KITCHEN Miss Mary Lou Kitchen, 80, well-known resident of the Ivor-Berlin community, died Friday morning, October 7, at the residence of Miss Virgie Bain, with whom she made her home. A daughter of the late Benjamin and Clara Branch Kitchen of Sussex County, she was a member of the Millfield Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Annie Norman of Petersburg and Mrs. C.C. Laine of Wakefield; a half-brother, Willie Wrenn of Wakefield; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at the graveside in the Bain family cemetery near Ivor at three o'clock Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Woodrow Laine, a nephew of the deceased, and Rev. T.N. Tombes of Ivor officiating. Mr. Lain made some very touching and appropriate remarks about "Miss Lou," as she was known to her many friends. The choir of Millfield Church sang "Safe In the Arms of Jesus," and a duet "Have Thine Own Way, Lord," was sung by Agnes Reed Stephenson and Nancy Ramsey. The active pallbearers were R.P. Kitchen, R.L. Atkinson, L.A. Brantley, J.W. Felts, I.N. Williams and L.H. Boothe. The honorary pallbearers were members of the Ladies Aid Society of Millfield Church and other close friends.
