She was the widow of James David Kitchen and a daughter of the late William and Betty Joyner Griffin. Mrs. Kitchen was a native of Southampton County and a member of the Nottoway Chapel Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Warren Kitchen of Richmond, and several cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. Wm. T. Joyner. ****************************************************************************** MARY GRIFFIN KITCHEN Mary Griffin Kitchen, 95, died early Thursday morning at Obici Hospital, Suffolk. She was the widow of the late James David Kitchen and the daughter of William and Betty Joyner Griffin of Southampton County. Mrs. Kitchen was a native of Southampton County, a resident of Franklin for 25 years and for the last 8 years had resided at Lakeside Nursing Home in Suffolk. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Warren Kitchen of Richmond, several distant cousins and a foster son, Henry Comstock, of Norfolk. Graveside services were conducted in Poplar Spring Cemetery Saturday afternoon by the Rev. William T. Joyner of Shelton Memorial Church, Portsmouth, assisted by Rev. Herman L. Smith of Courtland Baptist Church. The pallbearers were W. Tall Jones, John V. Sheldon, Godwin Kitchen, Reginald Kitchen, Lionel Edwards, and Harwood Babb. [Mary (GRIFFIN; Mrs. James D.)
