KITCHEN, SR. Richard Jasper Kitchen, Sr., 57, a resident of Ivor for the past 21 years, died Saturday, February 16, in a Suffolk hospital. Mr. Kitchen, a native of Sussex County, was a retired merchant and a member of the Ivor Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maude Clark Kitchen; two daughters, Mrs. Robert A. Soulli, and Miss Doris Marie Kitchen, both of Ivor; five sons, Richard J. Kitchen, Jr., of Erie, Pa., Jack M. Kitchen of Hopewell, William R. Kitchen of Smithfield, John W. Kitchen of Sumter, S.C. and Will R. Kitchen of Ivor; one brother, Willie L. Kitchen of Zuni; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. in the Ivor Methodist Church with Rev. L.P. Bland, pastor, officiating, assisted by Dr. J.E. White. During the service the church choir sang "The Old Rugged Cross, Rock of Ages," and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye." Burial was in the Ivor Cemetery. Active pallbearers were W.D. Rawls, Jack Murphy, Kasper Kaufman, Archer Gardner, Herman Barnes, John T. Faircloth, and C.A. Anderson, Jr. Friends of the family served as honorary pallbearers.
