Kitchen, 84, well-known farmer of the Dory community for more than 45 years, died Wednesday* afternoon at his home after an illness of seven months. He was the son of William E. and Mrs. Susan Pope Kitchen of Southampton County. Mr. Kitchen is survived by one brother, William Henry Kitchen of Sedley; two nieces, Miss Lillie Kitchen of Raleigh, N.C. and Mrs. Walter Spiers of Surry Court House, and five nephews, William Henry Kitchen of Raleigh; Herbert Kitchen and Lawton Kitchen of Sedley and T.W. and J. Arthur Kitchen of Washington. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock at the grave in the family cemetery near Vicksville by the Rev. B.H. Watkins of Wakefield. Samuel B. Death certificate (#8330) gives 14 Mar. **likely identical with the KITCHEN family cemetery near Vicksville, copied by Bill Hancock in 2009 (DHR 087-5555), and damaged by logging.
