KELLO Mrs. Mattie Bell Kello, daughter of the late Mrs. Sallie Gillette Bell and Robert P. Bell, died Monday evening, February 14, at her home near Courtland, after an illness of several years’ duration. Mrs. Kello was born in Ivor, Va., June 21, 1880, where she lived until her marriage to Samuel Thomas Kello of the Courtland community in 1904. She was a member of Applewhite's M.E. Church and a faithful attendant upon its services and active in many phases of church life. In the death of one so faithful the church and community have sustained a great loss. By her many acts of kindness and generosity she had endeared herself to the church and community in which she resided, and her bright, cheerful Christian life during her illness, will long be remembered by her many friends and relatives. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, Samuel Thomas Kello; two sons S.T., Jr. and Joseph Earl Kello; her aged father, Robert P. Bell, of Mullins, S.C.; one sister, Mrs. T.A. Saunders of Ivor, and a brother, James G. Bell of Mullins, S.C. She was laid to rest in the Kello family cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, a large concourse of friends gathering to pay the last tribute of respect. The body bearers were: Lee Felts, Jesse D. Vick, Ezra W. Davis, Willie Rawls, Vernon L. Drake, Dr. J.N. Applewhite, L.T. Saunders and E.L. Marks. A CARD OF THANKS It is the desire of the family of the late Mrs. Mattie Bell Kello to express in some manner to their many friends their appreciation of the numerous kindnesses shown our dear wife and mother during her illness and to us at her death and burial. It is impossible for us to adequately express the deep obligation which kind acts and sympathetic words and deeds have left in our hearts, but we take this method of publicly acknowledging the grateful feelings which remain with us in the passing of wife and mother.
