All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ JOSEPH RICHARD KEEN Funeral services for Joseph Richard Keen, 71, a lifelong resident of Nansemond County, who died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday night, January 16, were held at the grave in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Officiating were Revs. J.G. Lanning of the South Quay Baptist Church and Edwin C. Thornton of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church. The pallbearers were H.C., H.M., J.F, R.L., and S.O. Butler, Clyde Cutchins, Moody Gardner and R.L. Miles. The deceased was the son of the late Benjamin F. Keen and Otelia Gardner Keen, and the husband of Mrs. Lizzie Butler Keen of Holland, who survives him. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Tenie Saunders of Carrsville; a son, J.B. Keen of Holland; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Susie Brown of Virginia Beach.
