ELIZABETH REBECCA BARHAM KING

MRS. JOS. P. KING DIED TUESDAY

   FRANKLIN  - Mrs. Elizabeth Barham King, 66, died Tuesday afternoon in 
Raiford Memorial Hospital after an illness of many months.

   She was the wife of Joseph P. King and the daughter of Eugene P. and Mrs. 
Rebecca Dameron Barham of Southampton County.

   Mrs. King, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, had lived in 
Franklin for the last 41 years.

   She was graduate of Farmville State College and taught school throughout 
the county for several years.

   Mrs. King was postmaster during the Roosevelt and Truman administrations. 
She was member of High Street Methodist Church.

   Surviving besides her husband are a son, Joseph P. King, Jr. of Franklin; 
a daughter, Mrs. Arthur M. Roberts of Brookfield Center, Conn.; a brother, 
Percy D. Barham of Portsmouth; and five grandchildren.

   A funeral service was held Thursday at 4 p.m. at W.J.M. Holland & Sons 
Funeral Home by the Rev. G.G. Bentley, pastor of High Street Methodist Church, 
and the Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of Franklin Baptist Church.  Burial was in 
Poplar Spring Cemetery.
