KERNODLE, 72, DIES; TAUGHT IN VA., N.C. Mrs. Virginia Beale Kernodle, 72, of 1501 Libbie Ave., died yesterday at a local hospital. She was a 1913 graduate of Elon College on North Carolina; a member of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of 1812, and First Congregational Christian Church. She also taught in the public schools in Virginia and North Carolina. Mrs. Kernodle was once secretary of Dr. W.T. Sanger, then secretary of the Virginia State Board of Education. She was later secretary of Dr. Walter S. Newman of the Division of Vocational Agriculture. She worked with him and Professor Henry C. Groseclose of Virginia Polytechnic Institute in organizing the Future Farmer of Virginia, which later became the pattern on which the national "Future Farmers of America" was formed. She retired in 1946. Mrs. Kernodle is survived by her husband, John T. Kernodle, managing editor for many years of the only weekly publication of the Congregational Christian Church; one brother, Walter Lee Beale of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Billups Funeral Home, with burial at 2 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. [Virginia (BEALE; Mrs. John T.)
