Born in Southampton County, he was a son of the late Quinton Barkley and Rosa Drewry Lowe. Mr. Lowe was a retired safety director with 44 years of service at Union Camp Corp., a member of Cypress Cove Country Club, and a former member of the Hunterdale Ruritan Club. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Edna Person Lowe; two sons, the Honorable Judge Frederick Burton Lowe and his wife, Nancy, of Virginia Beach and James Person Lowe and his wife, Jane, of Franklin; four grandchildren, Mark Andrew Lowe, Margaret Barkley Lowe, Dawn Lowe Hinkle and Susan Lowe Toleos; and three great-grandchildren, John Hinkle, Andrew Lowe and Ashten Hinkle. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. The family will receive friends at the residence, 21813 Bethel Road, and suggests memorials be made to Persons United Methodist Church, c/o Mrs. Doris Rawls Miller, 27826 Ivey Tract Road, Drewryville, VA 23844.
