All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ GEORGE NATHAN LEA George Nathan Lea, 64, a well-known resident of Franklin, died Sunday night, October 9, at Lakeview Hospital, Suffolk, after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lea of Brookhaven, Miss. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and of the Summerville, S.C., Masonic Lodge. Mr. Lea was a foreman for Camp Manufacturing Company, being with the firm for about 14 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maylor Eagerton Lea of Franklin; four brothers, William Lea of Biloxi, Miss., Frank and Clint Lea of Canton, Miss., and Ernest Lea of Vicksburg, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Miller of Mobile, Ala., and Mrs. Ada Bue of Natchez, Miss.; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services for Mr. Lea were held at 3:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Franklin Baptist Church, with Rev. R.D. Stephenson and Rev. Randolph Gregory officiating. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the active pallbearers being W.R. Atkinson, Sr., S.A. Carr, N.T. Duck, William C. Duffy, J.B. Gay, Jr., Robert Gray, L. Britt Holland and John H. Scott.
