James Harvey "Jimmie" Lee Jr., 88, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 16, 2000. Mr. Lee was a retired contractor, the founder of J.H. Lee & Sons Inc., a highway and earthmoving construction firm. He was predeceased by his wife, Effie Burgess Lee. He is survived by two sons, James H. Lee III and his wife, Ann, and Donald J. Lee and his wife, Rebecca, all of Courtland; five grandchildren, James H. "Jamie" Lee IV and his wife, Sherry, Michelle L. Weist and her husband, Jamie, Vickie L. Fitzgerald and her husband, John, Courtney L. Applewhite and her husband, Greg, and Holly L. Fowler and her husband, Jason; four great- grandchildren, James and Miranda Lee, and Abbey and Emery Weist; and a brother, Marion "Ike" R. Lee of Emporia. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Joseph S. Lee and Southgate Lee Sr.; and a sister, Hazel L. Pulley. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery in Courtland. The Rev. Tommy Speight will officiate. The family will be at the home of Jimmie and Ann Lee, 23279 Shands Drive, Courtland. Wright Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Courtland Baptist Church, where he was a member.
