All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ QUINTON BARKLEY LOWE Funeral services for Quinton Barkley Lowe, 77, who died Sunday afternoon, October 17, at Raiford Memorial Hospital, were conducted Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock at the Franklin Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. Randolph Gregory, assisted by Rev. R. D. Stephenson of Portsmouth, a former pastor. Interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Two songs which Mr. Lowe loved very much, "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" and "Rock Of Ages," were sung by Joel Holland. The active pallbearers were James Darden, Lloyd Duck, Edward Sykes, Elton Stephenson, Calvin Francis, James Britt, Irvin Porter and Alfred Howell. Mr. Lowe had been very active up until he was stricken with a heart attack on Friday night. He was born in Southampton County on January 22, 1871, the son of the late James I. and Jennie Holt Lowe. In 1892* he married Rosie Virginia Drewry, also of this county. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Cassie Turner of Walters and Mrs. Sam Cutchins and Mrs. S.L. Joyner of Franklin; four sons, W.E. Lowe, Harvey Lowe, John Lowe and Fenton Lowe, all of Franklin; and 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
