SARAH JANE GAY LOWE

   Sarah J. Lowe, wife of John C. Lowe, died at her home near Sedley February 
17, after an illness of a few days in the 71st year of her life.  She is 
survived by her husband and six children; Linwood and Paul Lowe of Isle of 
Wight County; Sylvanus and Luther Lowe of this county; Mrs. Cephas Munford of 
Jackson, N.C., Mrs. James Munford of Isle of Wight; 20 grandchildren, one 
great-grandchildren [sic; -grandchild], and one sister, Mrs. Andrew Holt.

   She was a faithful wife a loving mother, a kind friend and neighbor, 
interested in all that would help to uplift her community.  For over 40 years 
she was a loyal member of Corinth Friends Church and the quiet Christian 
spirit of her life has molded a memory that will long remain.  Her home and 
surroundings testified that she was especially fond of flowers.  Many 
beautiful floral offerings bore loving tribute at her funeral.

   The funeral services were held Thursday, February 19th at her home, 
conducted by her Pastor, Rev. Jesse A. Stanfield of Corinth Church, assisted 
by Rev. R.P. Welch, pastor of Black Creek and Rev. W.B. Denson of Beaver Dam. 
Interment was made in the family burial grounds and the pallbearers were: 
Charlie, George Allen and Lonnie West, Charlie, Clyde and Rufus Gay, M.C. Holt 
and A.N. Holt, nephews of the deceased.

Sarah was the daughter of James Mallory & Louisa Ann (LOWE) GAY; 
   she and husband John Cleveland LOWE were first cousins.
   Daughters Bena Mae & Effie married brothers James Lynwood & Cephas Burt 
   MUNFORD. 
   Her sister Eunice Ann m. Andrew Jackson HOLT. 
   Her brother Simon McClause "Mack" GAY 1m. first cousin Martha M. LOWE. (mh)
