All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ NANNIE MOORE TURNER THOMAS LEIGH Mrs. Nannie Moore Leigh, 85, prominent Drewryville resident, died Tuesday, November 1, at her home after an illness of several months. Mrs. Leigh was a native of Southampton County and had married twice. Her first husband, Dr. John Thomas, and her second, Joshua Leigh, both deceased, were prominent in social and civic activities in Southampton County. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Katie Wells* Moore Turner of the Drewryville community, and a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J.W. Claud of Drewryville; two sons, Peter Thomas and G.W. Leigh, both of Drewryville; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. William W. Stennett, pastor of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. J. Sidney Cobb of Windsor, a former pastor, and Rev. David Willis of the Drewryville Methodist Church. Burial was in Drewryville Cemetery. Pallbearers were John T. Claud, R.W. Thomas, Jr., H.R. Thomas and T.W. Thomas, and D.M. Thomas.
