All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ CHARLES FRANCIS LASSITER Charles Francis Lassiter died unexpectedly on Thursday evening, November 4, about 6:30 o’clock, at the residence in Portsmouth of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Woodard. He was a native of Northampton County, N.C., he was a member of the Newsoms Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Gray Lassister; one other daughter, Mrs. Bennett N. Davis, and one son, Charles Francis Lassiter, Jr., both of Portsmouth; and nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral rites were conducted in the Newsoms Baptist Church on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by the pastor, Rev. L.F. Smith. Interment was in the Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Cook, Irvin Drake, Russell Drake, R.H. Ferguson, Willie Ferguson and Johnnie Gray.
