EDWARD JOSHUA LASSITER

Funeral services for Edward Joshua Lassiter, 41, well-known Newsoms merchant, 
were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Newsoms Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. 
L. F. Smith, officiating.  Mr. Lassiter died Friday July 6, in a Richmond 
hospital after a brief illness.

He was the husband of Mrs. Kathlene Wall Lassiter of Newsoms and the son of 
Mrs. Mamie Vick Lassiter and the late Holly L. Lassiter of Southampton County. 

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four sons, Charles 
Edward, Billy Sunday, Bobby Lee and Edward J. Lassiter; and three daughters, 
Martha Jane, Sylvia Ann and Verornea Holly Lassiter, all of Newsoms.

Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery.  Pallbearers were J. R. Holloman, Jr., Howard 
Ellis, Henry Whittaker, William E. Ferguson, R.H. Ferguson, Jr., James A. 
Ferguson, Carl Thorpe and Lona Francis.
