All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ HOLLIE LESTER LASSITER Hollie Lassiter, 53, a well-known resident of Newsoms, died Sunday afternoon, September 18, at his home after an illness of about five years. A native of this county, he had lived in Newsoms all of his life. Mr. Lassiter was the husband of Mrs. Mattie Vick Lassiter of Newsoms, and the son of Charles Lassiter and the late Lydia Story Lassiter. He was a member of Barnes Methodist Church. Besides his wife and father he is survived by one son, Edward James Lassiter of Newsoms, and four grandchildren, Martha Jane, Sylvia Anne, Charles Edward and Billy Sunday Lassiter, all of Newsoms; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Lee Vick and Mrs. Edna Davis, both of Portsmouth; and a half- brother, C.F. Lassiter of North Carolina. Funeral services for Mr. Lassiter were conducted from the late residence on Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock by Rev. R.L. Chadwick, followed by interment in the Newsoms cemetery. The active pallbearers were Wick Cobb, J.C. Story, J.T. Story, Jr., Genie Porter, B.F. Ellis, J.Q. Worrell, E.B. Carter and Julian Carter.
